Registered charity No: 300535.

Davidstow Village Hall Committee is currently looking for ideas on how best to use the proceeds from the sale of the old derelict hall.
Such proceeds, by the rules of the charity, must be used to benefit the residents of the parish and neighbourhood.

The committee is open to ideas of any nature and will look into all aspects with a view to implementing such ideas along with all other suggestions and options.

Current ideas being looked at are:

1. Refurbish the dissused church hall.
2. Obtain land for a village green.
3. Join with Otterham & St Juliot village hall.

Information on all of these ideas will be posted here shortly.

Anyone who has any inerest or ideas is invited to contact the committee or come along to any of the meetings as shown below.

Parish Survey to gather opinion.

One item to be addressed in the current parish survey is the future of the Village Hall Charity.
The previous hall had become derelict and unworkable and was sold at auction last year. The current committee are looking at various options as to how to provide a new facility in the parish.
One popular idea is to purchase land for use as a village green, providing an open space for annual festive celebrations, sports and general events and also include options of landscaping allotments etc.
The idea is still being appraised by the village hall committee who are inviting anyone who has ideas to contact them with any help or suggestions that they can offer.
The committee are also appealing to local land owners who may have suitable land available.
They say it would be an ideal way to safeguard the charities capital and go a good way to fulfilling the purpose of the charity.
In the long term the land could be used to establish a new village hall as more interest is raised via community events on the green.
Other options include the refurbishment of St Davids Church Hall as a village hall or joining forces with a similar project in the neighbouring parish of Otterham.

Anyone wanting more information about the village hall can address the committee in person at any future village hall meeting or contact the secretary, Simon Swale on 01840 261499.

The results of the survey will be published in on this website, on the Parish Council page in July/Aug.

WHAT IS DAVIDSTOW VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE?

The 'Davidstow Village Hall Committee' is a name given to the Managing Trustees of the Davidstow
Village Hall Charity No:300535. It is the sole job of the Committee to manage the charity in a way
that fulfils the function of the Charity and conforms to the rules and guidlines that apply to all
Charities in this country.
The name 'Managing Trustees' should not be confused with 'Custodian Trustee' who is there solely to hold property in trust on behalf of the Charity. The Custodian trustee for this charity is Davidstow Parish Council.
The 'Custodian Trustee' plays no part in the management of the village hall.
